Striving to be at the forefront of churches that connect with its membership and community, Second Baptist Church is a vital part of the Elyria religious landscape. Reaching out to and serving young and old, we are a church moving to new heights locally and abroad.
Mission is at the forefront of our service to our fellow man. Second Baptist supports its sister church in Jamaica both spiritually and financially. Locally, we offer weekly bible study (Wed. 12:00 noon & 7:00p.m.) and in each of the ministries as well as our home mission DVD program. “A Taste of South” community festival and a Prison ministry are other instruments used to deliver The Word to God’s people.
Christian stewardship for our youth is essential for church growth. Currently youth participate in, Sunday school, Children Church 2nd & 3rd Sundays @ 9:30 A.M., Teen Church on 2nd Sunday’s, Youth Day on every 4th Sunday, Youth Choir, Cherub Choir, Puppet ministry, Young Davids, Guild Girls, Hype Night, Praise in the Parking Lot, Praise Dancers and Vacation Bible School.
Our singles, married couples and seniors serve in ministries that provide bible study, group support, outreach as well as social events. Activities such as monthly couples “caring and sharing” meetings, spiritual enrichment retreats, bus excursions, family nights and special holiday events keep Second Baptist in Christian fellowship.
With the recent addition of its educational wing and fellowship hall, Second Baptist is able to serve the community even more effectively offering rental space for meetings and other gatherings.
Second Baptist Church is a church building on the past, embracing the present, and preparing saints for the future.
